Final
During these times the Jew were
hated for there religion because the Christians think that they should do
religion how they do it. Shylock a Rich Jew was treated disgracefully by
Antonio a Rich Christian man. Spit on and looked down on just because of
religion. Shylock was a revengeful blood thirsty type of man and towards the
end he just changed into a worthless man.
At this time period I under stand
why Shylock could be a mean person, they treat his people and him self horribly,
no respect and hate tread. Judging by how Antonio treats Shylock I can see what
I’s like for the other Jew and I can see what it’s like for them at this time.
It’s not fair how these people to be treated like this, they are all the same
they just do there religion differently.
In this
time period everyone would trust people with borrowing money, but not Shylock
with Antonio but who would trust a man who treated him with disgrace? Shylock
wanted revenge on Antonio for what he did to him, and since Antonio needed
money shylock came up with an idea on how he can achieve his goal on getting
revenge “ If you don’t repay me on such a day, at such a place, such sum or
sums as are in the contract, let the forfeit be agreed for a full pound of your
fair flesh.” So basically Shylock wants to kill Antonio. This is why I feel
like Shylock is a blood thirsty type of man. Why can’t he just say no to giving
Antonio money for revenge instead of killing the man, that’s crazy.
During the
last 2 senses things go down hill for shylock, his daughter runs away and she
steals money, then he finds out that he won’t be able to cut off Antonio’s
flesh because In the court they decided Shylock can cut off flesh but one drop
of blood cannot escape from his body. Obviously that’s impossible to do. So he
lost everything. No money, no daughter, and no flesh.
To sum
everything up Shylock If technically the man everyone wants to get away from, a
blood thirsty worthless person. Who wouldn’t want to get away from a guy like
that. Moral of the story for shylock don’t a person who keeps his mind only on
one thing and cares about someone that shouldn’t be important.

Merchant of Venice
“if
you don’t repay me on such a day , at such place, such sum or sums as are in
the contract, let the forfeit be agreed for a full pound of your fair flesh.” A
quote from the book “Merchant of Venice” (William Shakespeare) The Character
Shylock is a rich Jew that lends money to a man Named Antonio who Harasses him
and treats Shylock very horribly. Why would Shylock lend money to person like
that? Well because Shylock is a awful man himself he proposed a deal that states
if Antonio does not repay Shylock he has the ability to cut of 1 pound of
Antonio’s flesh. When I first read about shylock I saw him as a Jew who would
get picked on a harassed by people, as you slowly read on Shylock turns into a awful
person but then ends up worthless and lonely.
After reading what Antonio did to
Shylock I could tell in that time period your religion would get judge, in that
case on how Shylock witnessed “I’ve
always shrugged this off, patiently, because suffering is the trademark of our
race. You call me infidel, a cutthroat dog, and you spit on my Jewish garment” this
just explains to me how hard it was for the Jew in that time and how they were
treated for who they are
After reading on in the story I’ve
learned that shylock is a rich man who loans money to people, People like
Antonio. In shylocks head he has a feeling that Antonio wont pay him back so in
return if Antonio does not pay back Shylock, He will have the authority to cut
off a pound of Antonios flesh just to get back at him for what he did. This just
shows how evil Shylock really if. Yes Antonio treated him badly but Shylock
just wants to kill him for his actions instead of having a better solution
After the last 2 sense for Shylock
everything just goes hill for him. He lost a lot of money, his daughter stole
money and ran away then he finds out that he doesn’t get to cut off Antonio’s
flesh because if one drop of blood comes out of his body then that’s if he will
go to jail. So Shylock just becomes hopeless and with nothing else to do. I
feel like Shylock put himself in this situation, if he cared more about his
daughter maybe shouldn’t have ran away, if he thought things out more maybe he
would have gotten the opportunity to cut off Antonio’s flesh!
To sum everything up Shylock starts off
are a Jew who get bullied for his religion, to a awful blood thirsty man and
then ends up with nothing at the end. Through out the story I’ve learned that money
can really change a person. I think if Shylock wasn’t so focus on all these
pointless things maybe things would be a little better. He could of still had
his daughter and his servant. He did this all to him self. So Shylock is just a
Jewish man with nothing really much to do with his life anymore

Merchant of Venice pre-reading work
"Don't reply on outward appearances when making judgments"
I agree with this statement, because it's saying not to judge someone on how they look on the outside. There is more to someone then just looks there is personality and a brain. In this generation people complain how it's hard to find a good person when the good people aren't always the most appealing looking person out there. When i first came to Moanalua in middle school i honestly didn't think i'd be hanging out with the people i do today. When i first met them in my head i said this isn't going to last very long but look now it's freshman year in High School and I have the most best friends anyone could have
" Justice is always blind"
I agree but also disagree with this statement because i honestly think out justice doesn't see or bother to look more into the topic, they just want to get things over with. On the other hand they take other crimes big on hand it always depends who the person is and what the crime is because everyone handles different things differently. I don't have a personal experience of this but i know from some T.v shows, News article and etc that our officers handle things differently with the type of case that comes to hand
"A brotherly love between two friends can be just as strong as an intimate love between a man and a woman"
I agree with this statement because it's like the saying bros before hoes or chicks before...it's like you can't split up a friendship thats been going out for like ever with a relationship thats been joing for for not even half your life. Your friends know you they understand you which is totally different from your girlfriend/boyfriend. Your friends will always be there to listen and understand you and feel you because they know you, which is totally different with a male to female its 2 different genders to different type of minds. Like me and my friends our friendship can't get split up by a guy because i would put my friends first if they need me then i'll be there i won't ditch them for a guy.
" You can break a promise as long as you have a good excuse"
I agree and disagree with this statement because it really depends on the promise if this promise is about your friend being depress then it is a promise that has to be broken because your friends needs help i rather save a friends life then be a part of it ending but if its a promise of not saying something to there crush then saying i have a really good excuse its just a really rude move because they trust you enough to tell you someone thing personal thats going in there life. I've experience something like this because a friend of mine told me that she was depress and did things so at first i kept quiet because she told me never to tell anyone, after a while i realized how dangerous me keeping it a secret was so i went straight to her parents and because of me telling her parents she is still here today.
"Love is blind"
I really agree with this statement because i see perfect people that should be together but they just don't see it happening. I think these days people fall for the wrong person, because at first they get blinded with all the fake things. Charm, humor, and how much they pretend to care but later on into the relationship you find out that they were just using you and they end up a cheater and that person in the beginning was just a fake to rail you in. I have personal experience with this type of boy and if wasn't very good i got blinded and I got broken it just shows how love can really play with someone and its hard to find the real thing.
" Stereotypes are often right"
I disagree with this statement because if don't think it's fair to the people who got labeled when they were born everyone is different and everyone was raised differently. It suck because most Asians hate math, a lot of Native American people hate koolaide. I think its unfair or the ethnicity that get labeled for how they act on tv. I have f=a lot of friends that are Asian and every single on of then=m get teased for there stereotype everyone thinks they are super smart and taking the top classes and everything.
"An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth is a good motto to live by"
I disagree with this statement because i think if you do the same to the other person its not really proving anything it doesn't chance the fact of anything. I think you should talk to the person or at least give them a different punishment because you aren't proving anything nothing is changing and nothing is different.
